The Resolution

The Resolution is a Wetherspoons pub in Captain Cook Square, which is set to become the centre of Middlesbrough's leisure offer

This pub is part of the Captain Cook Square development, named in tribute to Middlesbrough’s most famous son

The Resolution takes its name from Cook’s flagship, Resolution, which he used to successfully complete the first west-east circumnavigation in high latitudes, chartered Tonga and Easter Island, and discovered New Caledonia in the Pacific, the South Sandwich Islands, and South Georgia in the Atlantic.

Pictures and text about Captain Cook adorn the walls of the two-floor pub, with a giant screen above the bar showing big football matches and sporting events.

But to generations of revellers, the pub and late bar will also be known as ‘Lloyds’.

The pub serves good food and a huge range of well-priced beers, spirits, wines, and cocktails.

We are artisan drinks and food from independent bars and eateries. We are rediscovering renowned restaurants. We are always ready with a warm welcome.

We are Middlesbrough profiles dozens of businesses across our borough, whether you fancy a quick coffee and a bite to eat, a full sit down meal or a beer or cocktail.
