Bumper first month as Wendy’s settles straight in

The latest addition to Middlesbrough’s Captain Cook Square has enjoyed a bumper first month of trading.

Burger outlet Wendy’s opened in the town centre in mid-May and has been one of the company’s best performing UK branches in its first weeks.

Wendy’s has been serving up favourites including the Baconator, Dave’s Single and Frosty desserts.

Customers queued outside the doors in the first days of trading and manager Ian Hall has been thrilled with the launch.

“We’ve loved welcoming customers to our new branch in Middlesbrough and have been happy with how excited people have been to visit,” Ian said.

“All of the developments in Captain Cook Square are really exciting and I’m sure we’ll see lots of new faces this summer.”

Michelle McPhee, Middlesbrough Council’s strategic town centre manager, said: “Wendy’s was a great addition to our town centre and the reviews show it’s clearly been a big hit.

“We have a huge range of food options in the town centre – there really is something for all tastes and budgets.

“As more food, drink and leisure outlets open in Captain Cook Square, we can see what a positive contribution the changes are going to make to Middlesbrough.”

Wendy’s joined gaming and sports paradise Level X in Captain Cook Square, with new restaurant Bazaar, adventure softplay Fun Shack and indoor themepark InflateSpace due to open in July.

To support this huge summer of new openings, the relaunched centre has launched its “More Fun To Come” / “Summer Is Funner” campaign promoting Captain Cook Square as a major family entertainment destination, come rain or shine.

The campaign will feature the North East’s biggest dinosaur event “Jurassic Boro” on the weekend of July 6-7 and a season of famous character meet and greets throughout August featuring The Gruffalo, Sonic The Hedgehog and Peppa Pig.
