US fast food chain Wendy’s is the latest addition to Captain Cook Square Middlesbrough.

It opens on Thursday, May 16 with a special launch event which will see free food and giveaways from the new restaurant.

Middlesbrough’s Wendy’s will feature its signature menu including the Baconator, Dave’s Single, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and the Frosty dessert.

These US favourites are joined by an exclusive range of items only available in the UK including chicken fillet nuggets and the Curry Bean Burger – square just like Wendy’s beef burgers.

Following the grand opening, the Captain Cook Square restaurant will open from 7am every day offering a full Wendy’s-style breakfast menu until 10.30am.

Opening hours in Middlesbrough will be 7am to 10pm Monday to Thursday – opening an hour later until 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Sunday opening will be from 8am to 10pm.

The American franchise is the first of a clutch of new venues set for the town centre leisure destination this summer.

Bazaar, a new restaurant concept, will open across the square in the coming months.

And work is ongoing at Fun Shack, which is launching a soft play and its new InflateSpace inflatable theme park in the former Wilko’s building.
