We Are Middlesbrough website Privacy Policy

This website is owned by Middlesbrough Council. Any information which you send to us i.e. your personal details, is managed as follows:

1.We will keep information no longer than we reasonably believe is necessary

We keep your data only for as long as is required. Your personal details if you email us can only be accessed via a secure email system by a small number of the Middlesbrough Council Marketing and Communications team, no personal information is held within the website.

If your details are collected as part of an enquiry, they will be stored until your enquiry is resolved.

If your details are collected as part of a request to be added to our mailing list, they will be stored on our behalf by a third party, SendinBlue, until you opt out of receiving emails from us.

2.We will use information only for the purpose for which you sent it

We collect personal data when users email us.

If your details are collected as part of an enquiry, we will use them only to respond to your enquiry.

If your details are collected as part of a request to be added to our mailing list, we will use them to send the personalised direct marketing emails which you have agreed to receive.

We will not pass on your email address or any of your personal details to other organisations unless explicitly stated.

3.We may use information for statistical analysis but in such a way that your identity will not be involved

To improve the user experience of this website we track your activity on this website. This statistical data generated in this way is completely anonymised.

Information that you input through this site is securely held. Your personal details are not collected by any means on the website, only when we are emailed. These details collected are not stored within the website and are sent securely only to staff connected with We Are Middlesbrough.

If your details are collected as part of an enquiry, they will be stored in the secure, password protected email account of the staff member responsible for responding to enquiries, until such time as your enquiry is completed.

If your details are collected as part of a request to be added to our mailing list, they will be stored in the secure email account of the staff member responsible for maintaining the mailing list until such time as they have been added to the mailing list. Thereafter, they will be stored securely on our behalf by a third party, SendinBlue, in a password protected database.

8.How we will contact you

If your details are collected as part of an enquiry, we will contact you via email in the first instance. We will contact you by phone if you have given a phone number and not an email address.

If your details are collected as part of a request to be added to our mailing list, we will contact you via email only.

9.Subject access request

At Middlesbrough Council we are open and honest about how we store your personal data and what we use it for. At any time you can complete a subject access request which will inform you what information we hold about you and how that information is being used. To request a subject access request please go to the data protection page on the Middlesbrough Council website. You will need to specify that your request for information relates to We Are Middlesbrough.

10.Right to be forgotten

As mentioned above we will only keep data relating to you for as long as is required. At any point you have the right to request to be forgotten, this means that if requested we will where possible delete our records of contact with yourself.
