Toft House is an intimate, not-for-profit venue, known as “The Home of Unpopular Music”. It is situated adjacent to Middlesbrough Theatre, on several main bus routes and with plenty of safe, free parking.

Since 2011 they have prioritized originality over popularity and tried to bring artists to Teesside who have not performed here before.  Whilst the emphasis has been on left-field songwriters, we have also featured some amazing bands. In over 125 gigs (at January2023) Toft House have established a reputation for being one of the friendliest and most welcoming venues in town, with audiences who really listen.

It is not just music. The 60-seater room is used for seasonal productions by Middlesbrough Little Theatre and for occasional comedy nights and poetry evenings. The room can also be hired.

The venue is also proud of our bar which serves three real ales, often from local, independent breweries.
