Saltburn boasts one of the best seafronts you’ll find anywhere – and it’s only 20 minutes from Middlesbrough.
You can make your way down to Saltburn’s shingle and sandy beach on its unique water powered cliff lift, then enjoy the stunning Victorian pier – the only remaining pleasure pier on the whole north east and Yorkshire coast – which extends 200 metres out to sea.
Popular for watersports, visitors can head along to Saltburn Surf School and try their hand at catching some waves at one of the UK’s premier surfing hotspots.
Away from the beach, Saltburn has a range of trendy independent bars, restaurants, and shops in its town centre.
And for those looking for a more secluded spot, try spotting the kittiwakes in the summer at Huntcliff, or the isolated beauty of nearby Skinningrove Beach.
