October half term kicks off with a day dedicated to Ancient Egypt and the afterlife. Packed full of spooky fun, check out the full line-up of activities below.

Egyptian play area (10am to 4pm)

Travel through time and explore life in Ancient Egypt in a new and exciting play area. Dress up and trade at the market bazaar or be brave and venture deep inside the tomb after visiting the archaeology camp to share your discoveries. Free activity.

Family Craft – make your own Pharaoh head-dress (10.30am to 3.30pm)

Make and decorate your very own Ancient Egyptian head-dress suitable for a Pharaoh. £2 per person, book your space at the museum welcome desk.

Unearth Egyptians (10.30am to 3.30pm)

Get hands on with the Museum team and pick up your archaeologist tools to uncover and identify Ancient Egyptian artefacts. Free activity.

Interactive Embalming Demonstrations (11am to 12pm & 1pm to 3pm)

Drop in to the interactive embalming demonstration and get involved pulling out organs and placing them in jars as the body is prepared for mummification! Free activity.

Book of the Dead (10am to 4pm)

Meet the team from Teesside Archives as they present an Egyptian Book of the Dead – a collection of magical spells that would protect people on their long journey to the afterlife. Free activity.

Hieroglyph’s Trail (10am to 4pm)

The mummy is loose in the museum and your help is needed to decode the hieroglyphs hidden around the museum to help locate the missing mummy. £1 per person, available from the museum welcome desk.

Virtual Reality Halloween Ride (10.30am to 3.30pm)

Fearsome fun for all the family with a brand new theme for the Virtual Reality Ride! Help DASH fight FLASH and keep your wits about you as you encounter ghastly ghouls, petrifying pumpkins and sinister scarecrows! £4 per person or £14 for a group of four. Book online via Ticketsource.
