Gig School is an amazing opportunity for young people to play with others in a band setting, learn a set of songs and perform together at the end of the final day. Young people will learn how to communicate with each other as a band, learn about live music rehearsal, set up and performance technique. Sessions are led by 3 experienced tutors; Neil (guitar and bass), Jen (drums) and Christina (vocals). This activity is open to young people aged 12-17 and we advise that young people have some experience (beginner level to advanced) playing guitar (including bass) or drums. Singers of all abilities are welcome.
Gig School will take place 10am – 3pm on Monday 24th, Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th July. The final showcase will take place on Wednesday 26th July at 5pm.
Participants are welcome to arrive from 9am each day to meet other participants and get ready for the day’s workshops. Pastoral staff will remain in the building till 4pm on the Monday and Tuesday.
Places are limited by a set capacity per instrument and will be offered on a first come first serve basis once booking opens. Once instrument spaces are filled we will be unable to accept further bookings. Places must be booked in advance – please do not show up on the day without a booking. Tickets cost £60 for the full 3 days of workshops.
Full bursaries are available for those facing financial barriers.
