If you have even half a passing interest in football, the local music scene or the history of our area, then unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple of decades, you can’t fail to have come across Teesside legend Rob Nichols. Illustrious singer in post-punk heroes Shrug, head honcho of Boro fanzine Fly Me To The Moon and organiser of local history festival Discover Middlesbrough.
So when he met music journalist and freelance writer Steve Spithray a couple of years ago, it was only a matter of time before the idea for a book emerged.
From Shrug to the Moon… The Robert Nichols Story by Steve Spithray is published by Sixth Element on Sat 4 December and we are over the moon – see what we did there – to be hosting a book signing before Boros’ home game against Swansea City, followed by a launch evening with Robert and the author hosted by Bob Fischer on Thurs 9 December at 7pm.
Tickets for the launch event are just £5 but you can put this towards buying a signed book on the night – so basically free! Talk about a perfect Christmas present for the Boro fan in your life – we’ve already ordered five!
