Roseberry Topping

A mini-Matterhorn of a hill with magnificent views

The distinctively-shaped, 320m high, place of beauty dates back to the middle and lower Jurassic periods, between 206 and 165 million years ago, and is formed of sandstone.

Roseberry Topping is a comfortable walk for most abilities and offers stunning views of Teesside in one direction and North Yorkshire in the other.

Most of the area’s landmarks can be seen from the top, and it also offers an enjoyable walk to another Teesside beauty spot at Captain Cook’s Monument.
