A local guitar business which has lovingly restored two vintage instruments want to give them away, to budding musicians who really need them.
Agrajag Guitars wants to ensure the two instruments, a Fender acoustic guitar which was donated by a customer and a vintage SG electric, find a good home with two young Teesside musicians.
The Middlesbrough firm, located right next door to the Riverside Stadium, recently celebrated three years in business.
Founder James McCue had dubbed the giveaway ‘My First Guitar’ and is asking for people in the area to nominate young people who deserve to receive them.
James has been repairing, servicing, painting, and customising all sorts of stringed instruments in the workshop since 2021.
In the last few years, James and colleagues Tom and Wayne have worked on everything from vintage Les Pauls and Stratocasters to Mandolins, Banjos, and Sitars.
“I saw the SG for sale, and it was in a really bad way. I bought it into the workshop to fully restore and bring it back to life. My colleague Wayne took the work on, stripping the guitar, rebuilding it, and giving it lots of love and polish.
The two guitars ready to be donated
“It now looks as good as new, and it plays like a dream. Wayne also donated a great amplifier,” continued James.
“Once we had these two guitars restored and ready to go I knew we needed to get them into the hands of young musicians who really need them.”
To nominate a young musician, contact James and the team and let them know why they would benefit from the gear.

The firm has made clear that entry must be made by the parent or legal guardian of the young guitarist, and that entries or photographs must not be shared on social media for safeguarding purposes.
